WIG CARE (This page may take a while to load.)
-
Amy of Denmark does not recommend any customer washing their own wig at home unless they are prepared for what could be a time consuming task. A lot of people who have attempted this end up bringing their wigs to us and having us redo them. However, some people feel that they can handle the task and have now asked for washing instructions.
All wigs are washed basically in the same manner. The type of shampoos and conditioners differ and there are methods that vary, but for the purpose of education, we offer these basic instructions.
Do not attempt to wash a wig while it is on your head. |
1. Brush the wig then wet the hair thoroughly while holding the wig gently at the top. Do not use HOT water. |
2. Still holding wig at top, place shampoo on wig… |
3. …and work into hair in a downward direction. |
4. Turn wig over and work shampoo into the cap also. |
DO NOT SCRUB THE WIG. |
5. Rinse wig in the same manner, still holding it gently at tthe top. |
6. Repeat steps 1-4 using conditioner. |
7. Still holding at the top,
place towel over wig and wrap loosely around it in order to towel dry. |
Human Hair Wigs may be treated just like your own hair. You may use blow dryers, hot rollers or curling irons on them if you know how. |
Synthetic Wigs must be treated differently. Direct heat will melt them.
Do not use curling irons, hot rollers or blow dryers. Although synthetic wigs generally hold their shape and style, you may want to set them on occasion with rollers (not hot) and leave the wig to dry before combing it out. |
If all else fails: Bring your wig to us and we will gladly wash it for you.
Human hair wig wash and style $40.00
Synthetic wig wash and set $40.00
